Autumn has a magical charm with its vibrant leaves and crisp air, but in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, where I live, it’s a different story. Here, trees stay green, and the air feels wet rather than crisp. Despite this, I was inspired to create my Autumn Preschool Centers resource for U.S. autumn. This packet is designed to engage preschoolers with activities like fine motor practice mats, pre-writing tracing, alphabet cards, and more. From pumpkin seed sorting to apple counting, each activity is crafted to bring the essence of autumn into your classroom. I hope your kiddos enjoy this autumn-themed resource as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Autumn Preschool Centers in Action
Autumn Leaf Fine Motor Practice Mat
To start, I included an autumn leaf fine motor practice mat. Building fine motor muscles is crucial, and while I used red and orange buttons for this mat, you can use anything that fits inside the circles. (Click the photo to get it!)
Pre-Writing Line Tracing Mat Autumn Theme
Next, I added a vertical pre-writing line tracing mat. Your kiddos will have fun tracing down the line to show the leaf where it should fall.
Horizontal Pre-Writing Tracing Cards Autumn Theme
I included horizontal pre-writing tracing cards to help with fine motor skills. (Click the photo to get it!)
Alphabet with Beginning Sounds Tracing Cards
The autumn-themed alphabet tracing cards showcase correct letter formation with a red dot indicating the starting point. I’ve strung these cards together on a key-ring for convenience. (Click the photo to get A-F)
Autumn Trees and Leaves Alphabet Beginning Sounds Activity
There’s an upper and lower case matching activity, which can be enhanced with beginning sound pictures. For added fine motor practice, glue the leaves onto clothes pegs. (Click the photo to get A-D.)
Autumn Branch and Leaves Sight Words
I’ve included 40 sight words to support reading development, focusing on 1-1 correspondence and letter order. (Click the photo to get some sample pages.)
Apple Number Tracing Cards
Number tracing cards for numbers 1-10 feature an apple half with seeds representing the number. Each card shows correct number formation with a starting dot. (Click the photo to get numbers 1-3.)
Apple Seed Counting Activity
Included is an apple seed counting activity with pictures of apple seeds. You can use real apple seeds if preferred. (Click the photo to get it!)
Pumpkin Seed Number Sense Sorting Activity
My favorite activity is the pumpkin seed number sorting activity, which includes various number representations. (Click the photo to get numbers 1-3.)
Squirrel and Acorn Shape Sorting
There’s a shape sorting activity with squirrels and acorns, using real-life shapes for hands-on learning. (Click the photo to get the shapes pictured.)
Color Matching Autumn Trees
The packet features color matching activities, focusing on autumn colors like red, orange, and yellow. (Click the photo to get red, orange and yellow!)
AB Pattern Cards Autumn Leaves
AB pattern cards with different autumn leaves are included to help with pattern recognition.
Which Picture is Different? Autumn Theme
A “Which picture is different?” card set is available, with an option to make it self-checking by adding a dot on the back of the correct picture.
What Doesn’t Belong? Autumn Theme
A set of “What doesn’t belong” cards is also part of the packet.
Apple and Pumpkin Licye Cycle Sequencing Cards
Finally, sequencing cards show the life cycles of an apple and a pumpkin.

NicoletaOprea

Hi! Thank you so much for this great packet! Would it be okay for me to include this page in a round-up blog post I am working on that is specifically about learning sight words with leaf activities? (Permission to link to your site and possibly use one of the images to show your activity?) I would be so honored, and of course I would leave a link to this page giving you credit to tell people where it came from! 🙂 PS – My site is all about literacy and tools for beginning readers at http://www.mythreereaders.com
