I found some cute groundhog clip art and just had to make a packet for your preschool and kinder kiddos with them!
PLEASE NOTE: This blog post contains sample pages from my Groundhog Day Preschool Centers packet. You can download the free sample pages by click on the photos. To purchase the complete Groundhog Day Preschool Centers packet, click here or on the image below.
Groundhog Fine Motor Practice
First up is a fine motor activity – all you need to do is print, laminate for durability and provide your kiddos with some buttons (or any other small items) and you’re ready to go!
Groundhog Beginning Sounds Match
Next is a beginning sounds matching activity. If your kiddos are not yet ready to match pictures to beginning sounds, children can order the letters alphabetically. Or, you can print two copies and do a letter matching game or memory game. There are lots of fun literacy options with these lil’ guys! (Click the photo below to download letters A-F.)
Groundhog Number Match
Like the beginning sounds activity, this can be differentiated to meet the different learning stages of your kiddos. For your higher students, you could print two copies and use the groundhogs with the dots as subitizing cards. Or, you could add them together. (Click the photo below to download numbers 1-6.)
Groundhog Shape Match
For this activity, children match the top hat 2D shapes to the groundhog that is holding the matching shape. (Click the photo below to download the pictured shapes.)
Groundhog Color Match
For this activity, children match the colored top hats to the groundhog of the same color. (Click the photo below to download the pictured colors.)
Groundhog Shadow Match
It wouldn’t be Groundhog Day if we didn’t have a shadow matching activity, right? (Click the photo below to download the pictured cards.)
Groundhog Day Patterns
The last activity is an AB pattern activity where children select which picture is required to complete the pattern.
I hope you found the samples here useful in helping you decide whether this is something you could use with your kiddos! If you would like to purchase the complete packet, click here or on the image below.
