Ocean Preschool Centers

Let’s dive right into it and take a sneak peek at what’s included in my Ocean Preschool Centers packet. But first, let me say this: I apologize for the terrible colors in some of these photos; I had such bad lighting and I rushed with the editing so I could publish this for you all today. So please keep in mind that the actual colors are much nicer than what’s showing up here 😉

PLEASE NOTE: This blog post contains sample pages from my Ocean Preschool Centers packet. You can download FREE SAMPLES HERE or by clicking on the photos in this post. To purchase the complete 116-page packet, scroll to the end of this post or CLICK HERE to get links to my online stores.

Ocean Preschool Centers: Literacy Activities

First up, an octopus fine motor practice mat to help strengthen those little finger muscles. I used buttons, but you can use pom-poms, gems, beads, beans or any other small objects that will fit inside the circles. (Click the picture below to get the activity.)

The next activity is an oyster and pearls beginning sounds match. The aim of this activity is for children to match the lower case letter and beginning sound picture on the pearls to the oyster that displays the matching upper case letter. If some of your kiddos aren’t working on beginning sounds just yet, you can ask them to only match the lower case letter to the upper case letter. (Click the picture below to get letters A-F.)

Next up, I included some syllable practice cards. The aim of this activity is for children to identify the number of syllables in each picture and represent their findings by covering the corresponding number on the card. I used shells to show my answers. (Click the picture below to get some cards.)

Then, there is a school of fish word family sorting activity. (Click the picture below to get the AG word family.)

Even though word families are basically rhyming words, I I also included some harder rhymes; that is, rhymes that are not necessarily CVC/CCVC words. (Click the picture below to get the pictured cards.)
