Directions for use
Following is an outline of the worksheets included in this unit and suggestions for use.
1. Alphabet Tracing
Children practice tracing the upper and lower case letters.
2. Alphabet Match
Children write the lower case letter next to the matching upper case letter.
3. Beginning Sounds 1
Children circle the pictures in each row that begin with the same sound, then write the letter that makes the sound.
4. Beginning Sounds 2
Children write the beginning sound for each picture.
5. Ending Sounds 1
Children circle the pictures in each row that end with the same sound, then write the letter that makes the sound.
6. Ending Sounds 2
Children write the ending sound for each picture.
7. Middle Sounds 1
Children circle the pictures in each row that have the same middle sound, then write the letter that makes the sound.

Children write the middle sound for each picture.
9. Syllables
Children select the number of syllables for each picture.

Children colour the onset and rime pair and matching picture in the same colour.

Children find the words in the word search. Next, they write the missing word to complete each sentence.

Children colour the beginning, middle and ending sounds for each word, then write the word on the line.

Children cut out the compound words from the side of the page and glue them next to the two words that make it.

Children cut out the words from the bottom of the page and glue them in alphabetical order. Next, they write a sentence using two of the words from the list.

Children cut out the letter tiles from the side of the page and arrange them to make words which they will write down.

Children look for the words and colour the letter tiles that make up each word on the word search.

Children read the short passage and answer the comprehension questions using complete sentences.
