Sound position identification: beginning and ending
Materials needed: household pegs
Children will say the name of the picture of the card and identify the position of the focus sound by clipping a peg on the correct circle.
Middle sound swap (CVC words)
Materials needed: erasable markers or magnetic letters/letter tiles
Children will read the top word on the card. They will then sound out the name of the bottom word. They will write the new word, changing the middle vowel sound.
Which sound has changed? (CVC words)
Materials needed: household pegs
Children will sound out the names of both words on the card. They will identify which sound has changed by clipping a peg to the correct circle.
Do the pictures start with the same blend?
Materials needed: household pegs
Children will say the name of both pictures on the card. They will clip a peg on either the cross or tick to show whether they begin or don’t begin with the same blend.
What is the secret sight word?
Materials needed: letter tiles
Children will solve the secret word by identifying the beginning sound for each picture. Combined, the beginning letters will spell the secret sight word.
Read and match
Children will read the sentence on their card and find the matching picture.
11-20 Number Matching Cards
Materials needed: manipulatives of varied colors (pom-poms, buttons, Lego, etc.)
Children will read the numeral on their card and then cover the matching number on the board with the indicated colored manipulative.
11-20 Number Matching Cards: Ten Frames
Materials needed: manipulatives of varied colors (pom-poms, buttons, Lego, etc.)
Children will determine the amount on their ten frame card and then cover the matching number on the board with the indicated colored manipulative.
11-20 Number Matching Cards: Number Words
Materials needed: manipulatives of varied colors (pom-poms, buttons, Lego, etc.)
Children will read the amount on their card and then cover the matching number on the board with the indicated colored manipulative.
11-20 Number Matching Cards: Tally Marks

Children will place the puzzle strips in numerical order.
Comparing Numbers (pictures)
Materials needed: household pegs
Children will identify whether the sentence on the card is correct and will clip a peg on either the cross or tick to show their answer.
Making 10
Materials needed: household pegs
Children will determine whether the addition sentence on the card is correct and will clip a peg on either the cross or tick to show their answer.
Addition within 10
Materials needed: erasable markers or counting cubes
Children work out the addition equation and write the answer.
Subtraction within 10
Materials needed: erasable markers or counting cubes
Children work out the subtraction equation and write the answer.
Shapes: Is the number of corners correct?
Materials needed: household pegs
Children will count the number of corners the shape has. They will determine whether the number shown is correct and clip a peg on either the cross or tick to show their answer.
Measurement (non-standard)
Materials needed: erasable marker
Children will use the colored strip of cubes to measure each picture and record their answers.
