Preparing Your Thanksgiving Worksheets for Kindergarten
Print the pages you need and gather pencils, crayons, child-safe scissors, and glue sticks. Most activities are ready to use after printing. The little books need cutting and stapling, and you can prepare the cutout pieces for children who need help with scissors.
Before handing out a page, demonstrate one example together. Encourage children to arrange their pieces and check their work before gluing. Small counters or cubes are also useful for the number activities.
Thanksgiving Literacy Worksheets for Kindergarten
The literacy activities cover alphabet knowledge, phonics, sight words, vocabulary, and simple sentences. Choose familiar skills for independent practice and introduce newer concepts in a small group.
Thanksgiving Alphabet Worksheets for Kindergarten
Children match lowercase letters to uppercase letters on the turkey feathers, then practice alphabet order with the picture puzzles. They cut out the strips, arrange the letters in sequence, and glue them down to reveal a Thanksgiving picture.

Thanksgiving Phonics Worksheets for Kindergarten
Start with the syllable page by saying each picture name and clapping its parts. Children then mark the number of syllables they hear.
The beginning sound pages ask children to match pictures to letters. Other pages introduce beginning blends, missing middle sounds in short vowel words, and pictures containing long vowel sounds.
Name the pictures together before children begin. For the middle sound activity, stretch a word such as “log” and help children listen for its vowel. Save blends and long vowels for children who have already started learning those sounds.
Sort Rhyming Pictures
The word family turkeys give children practice listening for matching word endings. They say each picture name and sort the pictures onto the correct turkey.
Try the sorting aloud before using glue. Ask children to say two words together and listen for the part that sounds the same.

Thanksgiving Sight Word Worksheets for Kindergarten
Children use a sight word color code to complete pictures, solve mystery sight words by writing the beginning sound of each picture, and fill missing sight words into sentences.
These pages work well for reviewing words you have already introduced. After children reveal a mystery word, have them read it aloud and use it in a spoken sentence. Help them connect the sounds and letters they know, and point out any unexpected spelling.

Read Sentences and Check Punctuation
Children read sentences and match them to pictures to show understanding. They also choose ending punctuation and rewrite sentences using capital letters and the correct punctuation marks.
Read a sentence aloud in different ways and talk about whether it tells something, asks something, or shows excitement. When children rewrite a sentence, encourage them to check its beginning and ending, then reread it.

Build Thanksgiving Vocabulary
The picture and word matching activity introduces Thanksgiving vocabulary, while the labeling pages focus on parts of a turkey and a pumpkin. Read unfamiliar labels together and have children point to the matching part before pasting.
A real pumpkin makes a useful companion to the pumpkin page. Children can look closely, describe what they notice, and connect the printed labels to the object in front of them.

Thanksgiving Books to Read and Build
Thanksgiving Dinner Emergent Reader
The Thanksgiving Dinner reader uses a repeated sentence pattern to introduce foods such as turkey, sweet potatoes, and green beans. It comes in color and black and white, with two comprehension pages: one with picture clues and one without.
Read the book together first, then invite children to reread a page with support. Discuss unfamiliar food words and choose the comprehension version that suits each reader.
Build a Word Booklet
Children trace and build 17 food and cooking words using the included letter tiles. The words range from shorter examples such as “ham” and “pie” to longer words such as “gravy” and “turkey.” An optional writing page provides space for further practice.
Start with a few familiar words and say each one together. Children can check their letter order against the printed word before gluing, then reread the words in their finished booklet.

Thanksgiving Math Worksheets for Kindergarten
The math pages offer several ways to explore numbers, quantities, and simple operations. Choose a manageable number range and let children use objects alongside the pictures when they need support.
Thanksgiving Number Sense Worksheets for Kindergarten
The number sense turkeys cover 1–10. Children match each numeral with feathers showing number words, cubes, ten frames, dice, fingers, and tally marks.
A separate page practices number words from one to ten. Begin with a few numbers and ask children to explain how two different pictures can show the same amount.

Explore Number Order and Comparison
Children write the numbers that come before and after a given number, then compare pairs of numbers and identify the greater value.
Keep a number line available for checking. On the comparison page, children can build both quantities with cubes and line them up to see which group has more.

Make Ten and Read Ten Frames
The making ten pages ask children to count the pictures in a ten frame and work out how many more are needed. They record their thinking in an addition sentence.
The ten frame matching pages cover numbers from 10 to 20. Encourage children to notice a full group of ten, then count the extra pictures. Counters can help children build each amount before matching it.

Add and Subtract with Turkeys
Addition and subtraction pages are included for working within 5 and within 10. Children can move the turkey cutouts to act out each equation before writing the answer.
For addition, make two groups and join them. For subtraction, begin with the starting amount and take some away. Ask children to explain what happened to the group as they worked.

Count by Fives and Continue Patterns
Children cut and paste missing numbers to complete a counting-by-fives sequence up to 100. The turkey pattern page includes AB, AAB, ABB, AABB, ABC, and ABBC patterns to color.
Choose these pages when children are ready for the skill. Build a repeating pattern with colored cubes first, then say its repeating part aloud before transferring it to the turkeys.

More Sorting and Sequencing Activities
The packet also includes picture-based activities for observation, comparison, and discussion:
- Missing halves: Match two parts to complete each picture, looking closely at shapes and details.
- Then and Now: Sort pictures into past and present groups and discuss what children notice about the objects shown.
- Weight: Use the balance scale pictures to discuss heavier, lighter, and equal weight. Follow up by comparing real objects on a classroom balance.
- Pumpkin sequencing: Arrange the five pictures in order and describe what happens first, next, and last.
Use the historical pictures as a starting point for a guided conversation, with accurate, age-appropriate books and information alongside them.
Choosing Thanksgiving Worksheets for Kindergarten
You don’t need to complete the packet in order. Pair one familiar literacy activity with one math activity, or select a few pages to revisit across the week.
For children who need support, reduce the number of pieces, prepare the cutouts, or work together before asking them to try independently. For children ready for more, ask them to explain a match, write a sentence using a booklet word, or show a number in another way.
