The December Math Word Problems packet is best suited for children in first and second grades, but they can also be used with children in kindergarten. Included are 96 addition and subtraction word problems designed as a cut and paste activity. These word problems are easy to read and they vary in difficulty, making this an easy packet to differentiate. To download some sample pages, click here or on the image below.
Addition and subtraction problems included:
- Joining word problems: Result Unknown (cards 1-4) and Change Unknown (cards 9-12)
- Separating word problems: Result Unknown (cards 5-8) and Change Unknown (cards 13-16)
- Comparing word problems: Difference Unknown (cards 17-20) and Quantity Unknown (cards 21-24)
The themes included in this packet are: colored ornaments on the Christmas tree, baked gingerbread cookies, presents in Santa’s sack and stockings by the fireplace.
Each problem includes a ten frame, number line and counting cubes to help children solve the problem. However, use of all or some of these are optional.
